Rarebird and all, Over time it has been a common practice of many in high places to do themselves in, in one way or another. Be it rock star or politician, they seem to need to push themselves through the knot-hole. Look back at Gary Hart. Moreover, they must sustain this image in the face of forces constantly trying to discredit it, such as hostile news media which love to embarrass them, or political opponents whose success depends on making them look bad."
It would seem that some politicians set themselves up for a life of seeking success but inevitably fall to "The victim of self".
