The brokers that I speak to have indicated that hedge funds are increasing their positions and the rise in the cost of stock borrowing and rapid increase in open interest support this.

Interesting article by Jake van der Vamp in todays SCMP on the fact that most hedge funds are long Russia and short HK and may need to realise some profits on the HK positions in order to offset the Russian losses.

HKMA were buying the futures market today but in lower volume than usual. Hedge funds quiet.
