<<But once they see a trend or have certain basis for new numbers to plug into their models, they are usually pretty good. >> they're looking specifically at service dollars spent by large oil carriers and potential future shallow water rig count in the gulf according to their notes. anyone can see the trend. the trend is down. i've talked to all the boats, looked up rig counts, browsed through service dollar valuations. can't find what they're looking at. the projections are all over the place, fro $1.29 to $2.50 for 1999. the trend here is protection against not knowing for certain.

tmar is now trading at nearly 70% below book

is there rotten sh** going on the us gulf? yes TDW is using predatory pricing to drive out the small competitor (TMAR is the second largest carrier in the gulf). but what is the end result of this action? fewer boats. price stability. does anyone really believe that asia will not recover at least by mid-year 1999? over half the world's oil is used in power generation which has been picking up significantly over the last month.

what are the sellers thinking? really.
