conspiracy theory: LU doesn't want TLAB to be combined with CIEN. The combined company would be a major competitor for LU. Therefore, LU somehow wink-wink nudge-nudge AT&T to announce this bad news at the same time shareholders vote for the merger. It's already unlikely that AT&T wants to choose CIEN over LU due to the intimate relation AT&T has with LU. This announcement is merely a means to derail the merger.
