Craig, I don't know what your background is regarding technical difficulties and software development but from the bases of your post I will try to help you.

Websites, yes I agree, are very easy to create and put on the WWW. I run three on the side for fun. The COTS products are cheap and help anybody create a website in minutes. But you have to understand what FNTN is doing on their website is more than just a site like Kevin has developed. Reasons below.

1.) They are managing what is called client/server. People establish accounts on this website. I as the client have an account to pull up my own personal portfolio from the server. This entails more than just HTML code, this throws everything in the book at it!! (Database, CGI, JAVA, etc....). On the server side alone they have to develop code to handle the constant stream of stocks and their prices. This doesn't include the code alone to serve up my requested portfolio.

2.) Also, who knows, the planned electrical shutdown might be because they are putting in place a backup power source. We don't know. I work at a NASA facility it is not uncommon for the facility managers to come and say they will take the power down. I agree they can't afford to be down, but if my memory serves right didn't they just have this building built or remodeled. At least they gave a forewarning and that is what counts.

No Flame intended. But until you have worn the shoes of a software developer or systems administrator I think you are making very irrational and hasty statements.

JMO

Greg Hodges
