64-Bit NT delayed a year after Merced I came across the following in a ComputerWorld article dated August 10: "Although users have been expecting NT 5.0 for more than a year, no official release date has been set. It is generally expected anywhere from mid-1999 to sometime in 2000. Microsoft plans an intermediate NT release the year after NT 5.0 is shipped, and the 64-bit version is slated to ship the year after that, Muth said." Has anyone heard about this? In June Muth said that 64-bit NT would be ready when Merced ships (mid-2000). Does anyone have any thoughts on what a delay in 64-bit NT could do to Compaq's Alpha plans?
