I spoke with EIDOS USA today and according to Gary Keith the
decision to delay Daikatana was not only to polish the game
for another month but also strategic (i.e. managing forward
EPS) That makes sense given the fact that a number of strong
titles are scheduled for release in the Christmas season:
Unholy War by Crystal Dynamics, Thief: the Dark Project by
Looking Glass, Gangsters: Organized Crime, Fighting Force for
N64 (this was released last Christmas season for Playstation)
and Tomb Raider III. What is the level of interest for these
non-TR III games among gamers anticipating them?

Last Christmas season EIDOS released TRII, Joint Strike Fighter,
Flight Unlimited II, Fighting Force for the Playstation.

Commados should be released next weekend and Ninja in September.

Picked up more shares at 11 3/8 today. Even if EIDOS meets the
First Call mean of -33 cents on Sept. 3, its P/E would drop to
an unsustainable 7.8. And the following quarter the trailing 12
month P/E could drop further since a year ago in the July-Sept.
period EIDOS reported a loss of -28 cents. With the US release
of Commandos (already proven in Europe) and Ninja, the comps.
should continue to improve and the P/E will be unsustainable in
a matter of less than two weeks.

good weekend,
