It is the corporation (like AZNT) that hires and fires its own transfer agent.

AZNT or any other stock hires its own transfer agent to keep track of all the shares.

Because the TA is liable for the accounting of these shares to the SEC. They follow SEC rules governing shares.

This is why they are the most reliable source of info... they are basically a disinterested third party that records the day to day transactions of stock...like an accounting firm.

The motives for a company such as AZNT to switch TA's , I do not know.

You'll have to ask them.
