Qualcomm broke through my sell stop at 35 5/8, so the stop was executed for 32 1/4 at the open. Through my lightning-fast computer trading software, I was going to sell 1/2 of my position yesterday on technical weakness. But, I didn't bother because I'd have to call my busy discount broker and get rid of the sell stop, which covered the *whole* position.

It suprised the heck out of me to find QCOM down 7 at the open - when it comes to high multiple stocks, I need to pay attention to earnings releases. Negative surprises hurt far more than positive surprises help.

I took the money and put it in Loral Space & Comm for now. Based on mkt reaction, it seems that widespread CDMA implementation will take longer than expected, despite its edge over TDMA and GSM. I doubt that QCOM's meltdown was due to computer antics or whatever. I believe QCOM's shareholders to be very educated and very observant of news. They're most likely institutional investors who have access to good research.
Let me know if you hear any news about AirTouch in LA.
Regards, Philip
