Lundin not worried about Congo project

From Dagens Industri (Swedish Daily), Friday August 21
Swedish mineral magnate Adolf Lundin says that Tenke Mining Corporation's investment of USD 50 million in the Tenke Fungurume copper mine in the Congo is not endangered by the ongoing civil war.

"That is covered by an international agreement, so it is safe," says Mr. Lundin, who is based in Geneva, Switzerland. The Tenke consortium has commited itself to invest an additional USD 50 million in the project, when preliminary studies are completed. "Of course, we want there to be peace. One can not embark upon a major investment when a civil war is going on," Lundin says.
