Why 12:40 PM? Because I trade with Jack White & Co and I can buy or sell as many shares of TSIS as I want to at 1 PM each day for a total commission of $5.

This is an interconnect trade ... matching buyers and sellers and splitting the bid-ask (bypassing the MM's) ... and they require that the order be placed by 12:45 PM. So I look at my watch and my real time quotes and place an order.

(I believe that regulations ... SEC or NASD or some such ... still require those trades to be reported and I reckon they still show up on the ticker.)
