Link to discussion of Lighting Life Cycle Costs:

Hilights:

Upgrading with energy-efficient lighting products can save your business approximately 50 cents per square foot, with an average payback of only 2.5 years. That translates to a 40 percent return on investment - and the upgrading can usually be paid for from the energy dollars saved. Nice numbers: The type that contribute directly to your company's bottom line.

According to EPA Green Lights, first cost constitutes only about 8 to 9 percent of the cost of owning a lighting system over its life; maintenance about 1 to 2 percent. Energy consumption represents the remaining 90 percent. An energy-efficient lighting upgrade focuses on the critical 90 percent factor.
