If you want support on Linux you can actually buy it with support, from Redhat I believe, and unlike other OS's it should even come with source code if they're pushing it as Linux. The way I've heard it Linux for Alpha was developed with a lot of assistance from Digital Equipment software engineers (on their own time). If anyone's interested go to www.alphapowered.com for info on companies that are/were building Alpha boxes. Most if not all will sell their box with Linux. The really unfortunate thing (I believe someone mentioned it here or posted a link to a news item) is that apparently Compaq is neglecting the alliance with the AlphaPowered group and some are suffering or dropping Alpha.
