Alan, re Data Integrity:

We're talking yet another tool here. Just about everyone who had decided to do their Y2K work in-house has long since bought themselves a tool. But, for the sake of argument, let's assume the Data Integrity tool is a quantum leap better than the others, and let's further assume that companies are willing to scrap their existing tool and start from square one this close to 2000 (both far-fetched assumptions). So what. A tool is still only as good as the people using it. For example, if I gave you a race car that is a quantum leap better than anything else out there, it doesn't mean you'll even come close to winning Indy.

At this point, the only Y2K companies who will continue to make money are the factories-- the ones who do the work for you. Y2K work is not as easy as it seems and just about everyone it appears tends to initially budgets way less time and resources than they eventually find they need to solve it. Y2K gurus like to say Y2K is not a code problem, it's a (fill in the blank) management problem, resource problem, etc. So switching tools often solves nothing.

For a technical overview of why what Data Integrity has is nothing special, see this post: #reply-5440910.
