MB. Ciena is looking attractive in the $20's for a first third.

I didn't believe for one moment that ATT would select CIEN over the good'ol boys at Lucent. Lucent's 96+ channel DWDM product smokes CIEN's product. As a matter of fact LU's DWDM product smokes ADC Telecommunications' (ADCT) product which hasn't even been introduced yet!

I can't believe the street sold CIEN off over this news and I can't believe that my long strangle option play was on TLAB options :-(
Oh well, live and learn. The CIEN price movement is likely to be violent over the next month so what do you think about an options straddle on it? Is this a foolish approach?

My favorite diversified telecom play, ADCT, posted strong sales this week and posted earnings of 30 cents, beating estimates by 2 cents. I'm proud of ADCT 'cause they are learning from the big boys how to play the Wall Street game. ADCT pulled a signature IBM move and lowered their tax rate by 1% which gave them the 2 cents they needed to beat the street. Normally I would get nervous but since none of the analysts noticed this then I will look the other way too. <G> It's tough being a bull in this market so I continue to look at and buy Nov puts on ADCT to insure my long equity position. The BK is close for the overall market. I feel the static electricity in the air...
