<<Morgan Stanley Dean Witter & Co., New York, expects NetWare 5 to gradually impact Novell sales. It predicts, however, that sales will not start taking-off until midway through the fourth quarter and into 1999. "We're forecasting a sharp ramp in upgrade revenue, up 45 percent next year, based on the NetWare 5 product cycle," stated a Morgan Stanley Novell NetWare 5 Upgrade Cycle Outlook report.
The report estimates NetWare 5 shipments will be approximately 50,000 by year's end, and up to 450,000 in 1999.>>
I'd appreciate some revenue and earnings impact from these Morgan Stanley estimates of NetWare 5 upgrades from those who follow Novell's balance sheets closely. Is this already in the 44 cents estimates for 1999 earnings? This could be very interesting, if it doesn't even include potential NDS on NT sales, amongst other types of deals that Novell may secure with their growing product line (e.g. ISP providers, telephony, IBM/SUNW alliances).
TIA,
