Agreed, Poet, but that wasn't my point.
Would you not agree, that in SI, discussing trading, online brokers, and how they operate, it is more than likely that your audience won't know what the hell you're talking about when using those words?
Sure, in your community, as in others, the vocabulary is second nature, and one needn't think of suppressing it. But here? I think not. Tell me the percentage of readers of those messages whom you think have any clue as to what he meant when he used the terms. Remember, the thread isn't a "research methodologist" thread.
Most professionals understand that the language of their profession is often Greek to the uninitiated. So most try to measure their words in relation to who their audience is. I myself am careful when posting here, so as not to use terms that are second nature to me, but may not be to the readers. I think not to do so is more than a "wee bit pompous."
Think about a computer expert, answering a simple question you may ask, and using all kinds of technical terminology that you neither understand or need, in order to have your answer. Or a physician, who goes into details at the cellular level, or starts talking about synapses and such, to a layman asking a a simple question question.
Frankly, the proof of this is that I've yet to see you use that kind of language in an attempt to impress, or otherwise. I think you have the common sense to know your audience.
But again, just my opinion, and thanks for your side.
