Hesitate to admit it, but I access thru AOL. Here's what I know about their offerings:

1.Yes it's $19.95 for unlimited access. No hidden surprises.
2. If you prepay 1 year it's $17.95. For 2 years in advance $14.95. No refunds if you subsequently cancel, tho.
3. If you come in thru any other ISP, it's $9.95 for unlimited access. (AT&T Worldnet offers 20% additional discount off of the $9.95)
3. AOL is already testing 56k access with x2 technology. If you pull down the list of access numbers on AOL, 56k access speeds are showing up.
4. Don't know where I read it, but I did read that AOL is, more or less, standardized on the Total Control hubs.

Speculation***

I expect to see a pop-up screen offer for the USRX 56k ready modems in January 1997. "Click here to order". They have your credit card already...

Some very creative profiles around these parts...raising the standard for the rest of the boards....
