Isn't this the crux of the FCC debate with RBOCs? ---over who pays for upgrades? You may be right to suggest they'll let ISPs take the lead but how smart is it if you lose the customers in the meantime? And in this case the more lucrative customers.

Do you recall I posted saying I'd written to Flynn Nogueira at GTE to encourage them to install ADSL? Well, I got the following reply this morning:

"Thank you for your message. We are working deligently to deploy ADSL as soon as possible. GTE is updating our home page if you want to see our announcement of Phase II of the Microsoft trial. We hope to gain additional valuable information."

At least one telco is on the ball. And we *know* what they think of Amati.
