I know when I spoke with Mr. Martinez late last year he had told me that he didn't expect anymore DARPA money. He also spoke to me at length why he didn't expect anymore. Shortly thereafter we received unconfirmed reports that there was DARPA money forthcoming (alleluia). My only reason for mentioning this is that he was telling me that they were on target with XRL for mid 1998 WITHOUT expecting DARPA money. I also might add that this was after the Swiss fiasco. It looks like at least part of the reason for the delay you cited is inconsistent with what I was told by Mr. Martinez.
