dx--

the JPC contract was awarded first on price, then on DMT which will replace cap products.

but...no one can get them in the quantities they need. look at GTE using the fujitsu/orctf solution. PAIRs falcon has been out for a while, but no one wants to use it. the only deal PAIR has gotten as a result is a small telecom outfit in the valley, and a licensing deal from paradyne i think.

so, why would you sign on with a vendor who cant deliver what you want, when you want it, when you can go to another vendor (WSTL) and get a deployable solution that is upgradable to DMT.

you must be new to all this...DMT and CAP debates are passe, especially when they list lack of DMT as one of WSTLs problems. WSTL has access to a number of DMT solutions, and it will use the one that works best. however, it doesnt really matter right now because WSTLs customers seem very happy with CAP.

and the customer doesnt CARE. get it? its a red herring issue.

one of the DMT DSLAMs to which you refer has a WSTL logo on it.

good luck to all,
trey
