and you have Republican stitched on the front of your shorts and..............

REPUBLICAN EQUALS WATERGATE does it not???????

Well of course I'm a Republican, I have both a brain and moral ethics...LOL.

Watergate? Dude, I'm 34 years old, and Watergate was on the front pages about the time I was learning how to read "See Sally. See Sally run."

Not that I'm disclaiming any affiliation with Nixon. Au contraire. He was a decent President I'm sure, though I was quite young while he was in office. I think Watergate was about on a par with Clinton's Filegate. 400 FBI files, essentially stolen from the FBI. Then suddenly many months later they were returned with a lame apology of "oh it was an accident. we didn't read any of them, we promise".

So no, Nixon being aware of a misdemeanor burg charge because his guys were trying to get the skinny on Democratic strategy...not much diffferent than Clinton stealing 400 FBI files, many of them on prominent Republicans....actually the more I think on it, the more I think Filegate was much worse than Watergate.

I have no idea why Filegate charges weren't filed by Janet Reno, but I guess they weren't because Reno could see that the public mood was very forgiving towards a wildly popular President...plus she's not going to appoint a special prosecutor unless there is no other alternative...like how she refuses to appoint a special prosecutor (yet) in the campaign finance fund raising scandal, which is still developing...I think eventually thought that she won't have any choice but to press ahead with law enforcement action in that regard.
