I had very interesting conversation with Ted Mather ISDN cheif engineer recently.

what I have gathered from Ted appears to be very encouraging.
ISDN has developed a set up box that hooks into your TV (just like the one from your cable/satellite vendor) giving you on-demand entertainment as never seen before. TWC and the rest of the cable suppliers are working on such a roll out but ISDN will beat them to the punch by several months hands down.

All along I was under the impression this streaming video stuff was all about video on demand over the internet.

According to Ted Internet is not a suitable medium for receiving high quality video (as sen on TV) due to insufficient bandwidth in the internet backbone. Internet will NEVER be able to transmit TV quality video for such reasons.

However there are several things you can do well over the internet . Such as setting up a database, billing, accessing information etc. ISDN will therefore set up their customer base on the internet including account information , billing, technical support etc. and use locallly available transmission towers to transmit video to residential and business customers.

From what I have gathered ( I may be wrong ) you will use a remote to connect to the ISDN internet site through the setup box hooked to your TV and order whatever that floats your boat..movie,concerts for that matter sporting events etc..most are archived and listed on the site and some live.

The best part of the whole thing is you can continue subscribe to the regular cable channels including premium channels as before NOW through ISDN and not miss a beat.

The setup box is currently being manufactured and ISDN's video on demand will be first available in select markets by the end of the year.
