Fred, If Intel had kept prices higher AMD and Cyrix would be making profits and the market share would have been the same. The limits were the AMD foundry capacity, so Intel could have kept the prices high and made 100 billion more dollars.

In essence , Jerry considered, AMDs plight was mediated by Intel. One wonders why they did it as it has cost Intel a great deal of potential profits if they are so good? It must be Intel saw them as a threat and has tied to totally kill them whatever the cost, and has failed. If the under $1000 segment had no saved AMD it would be closer to the brink than it is now.

The next 6-9 months will tell the tale, and whether or not AMD gets a rich daddy or not. Ideally a rich daddy with a slot 1 permit so they can go face to face. Now that would scare Intel.
AMD to take over another company with an Intel foundry agreement?, what about a reverse takeover where the foundry licencee is taken over by AMD issuing a huge whack of new shares that effectively gives the foundry shareholders control. This would marry the foundry agreement and AMD and satisfy the Intel lawyers who would hate it.

Gotta gas jerry though, he should have been put to sleep years ago.
On that we agree.

Bill
