I have applied with a connection through bellsouth, Im in Raleigh N.C, moving there in one week and we are one of the cities to get it. Its been a week since my submittal and no response yet, many factors are involved like you said, most
important is how far you are from the central office. Im in Durham N.C. , just around the corner from raleigh, and was planning to go with GTE who was supposed to roll it out in August one month before
bellsouth did their areas, but those guys are so disorganized that i
still havent hear a peep from them,,Usually the business dept handles these set ups and with both GTE and Bell south its like some kind of undercover secret operation, you have to call some rep with GTE and then they send the info to their business dept and you hope they call back,,pricing information with gte is never set and everything seems to be a blob of jelly. Bellsouth seems to be a little more organized but ill tell you in a month if that is true or not. Its cheap
as hell though ,, looking like 50-60 month for megaspeeds i think
the price can go up to 120, at least with GTE, depending on the level
of speed you go for, only thing that worries me is that cybertrader had reports of data packet
loss when some of their customers started trying it through uswest
however that was along time ago, so hopefully bellsouth will have
the bugs panned out now, sure would hate to loose data.
