Why in the world would you short DELL when you can short so many other more deserving
companies???

The challenge. I made money shorting MSFT which everyone said was impossible to do. Initially I lost there too, but recently I have done very well.

Then I turned my attention to DELL. In the last round my error was starting to short too early with too much money in the first parcel of shares. I was doing better this time until the positive earnings report hit me. Some day I'll crack the correct strategy. You could do this on paper without money but it is very different when money is at stake. I regard any losses like tutition fees. The last time I lost $300 in total I think. This time is currently much worse than that. Even if DELL is going up medium term I think that we will see prices below 117 in the next few days. I can then bail out with a few dollars a share loss at that point.

"Smart guys should know that shorting DELL at any price is not
smart"

"Smart guys' know all kinds of other things are supposedly bad ideas.
