I'm sorry to be dense, but I have a very simple question. "Does Intel need new Micrascan IIIx's to do 0.18 micron on its upcoming generation of chips (Katmai, et al.)?"

THe recent press release seems to suggest Intel is buying new equipment, yet I read that existing MicraScan III's are being tweaked down to 0.18 engineers, despite being rated only for 0.25. If I thought Intel needed new machines for 0.18, SVGI would be a screaming buy, because of Intel's policy of using identical machines and because of the close relationship with SVGI historically (QWERTY keyboard type thing.)

Or, am I really not that dense and this is actually the critical question no one knows the answer to?

I've read the past hundred or so messages and have been following lithorgraphy in general from the Cymer thread. Someone, please post something that clears this up as best as possible.

Thanks,
Matt
