<< I would never invest in it at this price. Steve will probably turn it into a true turn around story but there are still a TON of 'ifs' just like Novell.>>
I wouldn't think that Marc was recommending AAPL at today's prices. But below $17 dollars, it was a compelling stock (value) to look at for investment (turnaround).
<<If I was to think as an investor, I would assume that waiting another 3 months to take a position would probably be too late. Now is the time to speculate and start a position before the other folks come to the party.>>
I agree. As Novell is right on the edge of NetWare 5.0 release, the answers to market acceptance are near.
<<Its a gamble, but the time is now.>>
You may be right, that this could be the last window to pick up Novell close to $11. I'm just curious, where were you last Dec97 - Jan98 when Novell was trading in the 6 7/8s - 8 dollar range? Thats where I placed my entry point, as I truly believed the downside risk from there was limited. We could still hit some bumps from here, but the name of my game is 1) capital preservation first, 2) strong upside potential over time. Yes, "ifs" are always part of any investment, whether its big large-caps gorillas like MSFT, CSCO, DELL or the chimp NOVL. Of course NOVL is in the most vulnerable position, but I must say, chimps can be rather agile beasts =;-)
<<I see no difference between apple and novell aside from the hype and solid following that apple has enjoyed for years.>>
Gosh, hype and solid seem to be two contradictory words in the same sentence. Is it the hype that caused the solid following by apple fans, or the solid following that lead to the hype?
