Exactly right Rarebird. Alan W you do miss the point. Seeing Falwell on msnbc and his "Im praying for the president" diatribe was almost as patronizing to prayer as it was to the President. It was definitely inappropriate given the context of the discussion, and it was clearly said in a condescending tone in order to paint a picture that the President was "bad" (this was right after the speech when opinions were just being published).

BTW if it was another figure besides Falwell saying it I would have felt differently - sorry no national figure comes to mind, but for example if the Pastor from the local church out here (who lives on my street) made a statement like that I would have no problems with it. Theres something very insincere about these high profile religious fundamentalists - everything they say has a hidden agenda.

Alan, I wonder how you would feel if you went to Tanzania or Kenya on business and were approached by their religious leaders (commonly referred to as witch doctors) with their imposing views about how you should raise your children etc. We dont make people sign a religious doctrine to immigrate to this country, nor should we.
