Tom: You have made the point I have been espousing for years---and it applies across the board, not just in politics. Certain things somehow become true for people simply because they have been repeated over and over again. After awhile, these familiar mantras become true for people because they've heard or read them before, from any number of sources. Politicians have, of course, raised this to an art form through their extensive and wide ranging use of spin masters.
