Dear AHM and Thread,

>>armies of outside
specialists must be hired. This places stress on Human Resources
who, in general, are badly equipped to evaluate such recruits and
adds to the time pressure of IT and engineering staffs who must
interview and judge who can perform the work.<<

Yes, this is an incredible task.

Two possible scenarios:

1.

Take one of the best in the IT-Y2k area, say someone like KEA, who would have a huge remediation job with a manufacturer, say a large company that manufactures refrigeration, air conditioning, and other important, related products...maybe someone like Carrier Corp.

Someone like KEA will have a team for this project, a team specifically situated in a certain region, a particular city. The client company will have it's team too, and its role will mainly be one of assisting, and of pointing out priorities, for by this time, it is clear that the total IT remediation work cannot possibly be completed by century's end.... actually, date related failure has already appeared in various client company programs that must contain future date projections, etc., and partial shut-downs have already happened, financial loss has already occurred.

Time is so critical now, that even though the Keane team has uncovered other non-project program and systems flaws within the client, and could probably fix them- do an enhancement- the two teams must ignore these opportunities.

Because of time and enormity of problem, the operating philosophy of the two teams is simply: we will do our best with the time, money, and manpower available, and hope for the best.

Meanwhile, the client's factory floor needs(embedded)require similar attention and dedication, else all other remediation at the IT level is merely an exercise. There is also the supply chain issue, for everything in the world is related to everything else. Ultimately, there is only One thing.

Imaginatively, one might use holistic medicine and the body-mind relationship as a model for understanding that there is a kind of ecological network here that requires attention.

All things are revealed as networks nesting within other networks. The recognition of this is the recognition for the need of dedicated specialists and disciplines, whether the specialists be, for example, a cardiologist or a physical therapist, a Keane or a Tava, a sales representative or a programmer.

2.

A company such as Keane might have representatives attending an important conference for health care providers. Other companies similar to Keane have their representatives there also. These people are mixing with the health care administrators, managers, directors, and various department heads of hospitals, clinics, special care facilities, associations, some belonging to huge business chains, others independent.

One of these people might approach an XYZ company IT-Y2K representative and remark: well...we are taking care of our IT date problem throughout our chain of hospitals, but, you know, our people are now concerned about something called an embedded problem which has come to their attention, something which affects much of the technology of our critical medical equipment and systems, and we are wondering what is to be done.

What, indeed? Remember, this person is talking to the representative from XYZ company, whose contract is solely for IT work.

At the same time, another major health care provider Y2K team leader is having a similar conversation with someone from a company like Keane. The question "What is to be done" is asked, and it is at this point that this conversation becomes quite different than the other one occurring elsewhere during this same conference. It is very likely that Tava enters the picture here.

>>> I have just created a position in TAVA and
feel strongly about it because this company is in a niche market with
little or no competition.

Wexler fails, in my opinion, to understand the motivations for
outsourcing such as has been contractually established by Chevron,
Boise Cascade, Polaroid, County of Los Angeles and others with
TAVA.<<<

Today, more than ever, investors must be willing to become students of the companies, businesses and sectors in which they invest...not become experts necessarily, but certainly studious, diligent, imaginative, and open minded.

One of the wonderful assets of a forum such as this Tava thread has been the wealth of information and understanding that has been accumulated and expressed by investors who are able to share in meaningful ways beyond, and outside of, their own professions and careers.

It is this dedication, willingness, sincerity and personal excitement which- even in the presence of certain private motives and agendas, expressions of half truths, outright lies, and attack- will ultimately prevail in this forum. This is happening here with all of us as investors. It is also happening in this same way for Tava and the people within Tava who are shaping it and moving it in the important and critical directions demanded by the times we all live in.

Best,
Charliss
