Speaking of swimming and all....
Ratan:
Speaking of learning to swim, when I was about 3 or so my dad used to take me to the river very close by our house in the morning and put me on his back and swim to the middle of the river and he will dive deeper leaving me on my own for a few minutes, what can I tellya not only did I drink plenty of water but eventually I turned out to be a pretty good swimmer in a very short time.He did the same for all my brothers and sister so now whenever we get together back home we never forget to go to the river at least once a day and take a dip and a swim or two and talk about the good ole days and some times this swim party lasts for an hour or more depending on whether it is the monsoon season or not.
Oh BTW here is something I posted over at the New York Times discussion board on the recent U.S missile attack on the terrorist camp.

I do not know whether the recent U.S attack was justifiable or not but I think the U.S needs to work on its foreign policy a bit more as the policy makers seem to work in a complete vacuum of sorts. Money and Power are all well and good but going around creating enemies around the world is something else.
Coming back to the recent events, I think it is quite justifiable if there is ample evidence to support the action and I hope the U.S will take appropriate and decisive action against terrorism against the country and its people irrespective of where it is coming from.
Here is something I find very disturbing, why? because I am a first generation American from India and the second paragraph in the following excerpts show what I was talking about earlier about the flawed American Foreign Policies, ie shooting from the hips first then asking questions later without regard to the repurcussions,oh by the way the bit about 'we use the building for education and welfare' in the second para, don't you believe it,probably 'education and welfare' for them means brain washing and terrorism in all likelihood. Oh well 'nuff said.
Excerpts from today's NYT article by BARRY BEARAK
"...The other two groups hit by the missiles were primarily Pakistani, and, according to reports here attributed to government officials, both were active in sending Islamic militants into the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir"..
"Americans themselves built the camps for the purpose of war, and now we use the buildings as education and welfare centers," Khalil said.
