amdahl is not ibm though they used to wish they were. for better
or worse, amdahl has left ibm's tread and gone into uncharted
waters. unfortunately, those waters are *NOT* proven nor tested
and has no history of supporting billion dollar valuations. their
success is by no means assured. rather, if *any* of the original
management (that is, management as of 6 years ago) is in place,
i would say their failure is more or less assured.

amdahl has a long and sorry history of acquisitions amid much fanfare
and grandiose project pursuits followed by slash and burn policies.
they dont know the meaning of the word commitment. if i didnt know
better i'd say dilbert was an alumnus.

maybe things have changed in the last 5 years. i wouldnt put my
money on it though...
