amdahl is not ibm though they used to wish they were. for better or worse, amdahl has left ibm's tread and gone into uncharted waters. unfortunately, those waters are NOT proven nor tested and has no history of supporting billion dollar valuations. their success is by no means assured. rather, if any of the original management (that is, management as of 6 years ago) is in place, i would say their failure is more or less assured. amdahl has a long and sorry history of acquisitions amid much fanfare and grandiose project pursuits followed by slash and burn policies. they dont know the meaning of the word commitment. if i didnt know better i'd say dilbert was an alumnus. maybe things have changed in the last 5 years. i wouldnt put my money on it though... d
