The only lies we know of are about consensual sex.
That's because that's the only lie he's admitted to. And even though it was a lie about consensual sex, it was illicit consensual sex. What the whole episode has accomplished is that finally all his minions have to admit that Clinton is quite capable of looking any and everyone in the eye and lying his ass off.
Do you ever wonder why Clinton didn't simply refuse to answer the Jones' deposition questions, and say that on the grounds of the personal sexual nature of the questions, he would not answer them?
That would have been far preferable than this concerted campaign of deceipt. I still have the picture in my mind of Clinton's cabinet, the Monday after the Lewinsky tapes came out. You know what I found interesting? Only one person in the picture was looking in the general direction of the camera. Madeline Albright was looking very serious, peering intently at a legal pad on the table. "If the President says he is innocent of these allegations, then I accept that," said Madeline. He played her for the fool for seven months. And I *knew* the slickster was lying his ass off. *Everyone with a brain* knew that Lewinsky wouldn't have fantasized hours and hours of conversation, complete with emotional hand-wringing. And meanwhile, Clinton's minions on these boards kept saying the same thing you're saying now: "You find him guilty because he denies some thing?" and "what happened to innocent until proven guilty".."hey you can't say he's lied, it hasn't been proven", and other BS.
Well you know what? After 7 months of vehement denial, we find Clinton *did* lie. So Eat Humble Pie.
A couple other things: Remember Mike McCurry, saying that "in all probability, Monica Lewinsky was suffering from delusions". Gee, these are really nice people.
And you might keep in mind something else: It wasn't just Monica. "three or four others", during the same time period, according to Monica on the tapes. |
