Bernard,I skimmed the article and got a gist of what the author was saying, and in ways that are self serving, he is right to a certain extent. But he makes some anachronistic assumptions in his calcs that I'd like to have a better opportunity to examine when I am awake tomorrow. <s> One observation, however,is that a sustained cough between thoughts during a telephone conversation can be the cause of sending more bits on a line than a healthy email. Another thought that enters my mind is that today we are seeing enormous pipes being emplaced on the Internet. Is this because an OC48c packet over sonet pipe will transport the equivalence of 2.5 Gbps good put, or is this symptomatic of the need for much higher bandwidths in an environment that is still replete with restarts and failed attempts, like providing that additional headroom that will never be fully utilized in a productive way? Just some thoughts as I begin my descent into the depths of night... Frank C.
