Well, from DOS to Window is a completely different story, you switched from a non friendly system to a friendly one. From Win3.1 to Win95 is another story, from Win3.1 to Win95 is an upgrade , basically the new product came from the same company, and I do not have a problem of confidence on the upgrade. It is nice that Linux can run faster, but with CPU getting faster and faster, it really does not matter at all, and I can not probably even feel the speed improvementl. The issue is with win OS , I am sure that I can easily find any application programs which support Win OS, but for Linux, I am not so sure. Besides, if I switch to Linunix, what should I do with those application programs which can run on window ? Should I throw them all into the garbage can ? Or should I spend another thousands of dollars to buy those similar application programs which can run with Linuix if I can find any in the market at all ? That is what I called inconvenience . A good product is one thing, I marketable product with business sense is another . I think you are just too engineering minded
We all know propane powered car is clean, the problem is it is difficult to find a gas station which sells propane. So, should I buy a car powered with propane , which will give me a lot of headache to find a propane gas station ? I do not think so. Of course, If you have the time to learn Linuix OS , and have interest in this new OS, no one can prevent you to get a copy of it. It is your freedom of choice. But from application point of view, it just does not make sense. |
