Cabletron Unveils Attractive ATM BuybackProgram; Offers Customers Up to $300 Per Port in Trade-In Incentives

ROCHESTER, N.H.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 24, 1998--Cabletron Systems CS today launched an aggressive buyback program, offering customers up to $300 in discounts for every ATM port that is upgraded to Cabletron's next-generation ATM SmartSwitch before November 30, 1998. Available through Cabletron's authorized Synergy-Plus resellers or its direct sales representatives, customers will receive a $100 to $300 SmartTrade discount for each port that is upgraded to a Cabletron ATM solution. Under the program, resellers will receive a SmartRebate for each Cabletron ATM SmartSwitch sold. Cabletron's "Make the Switch to Smart ATM!" promotion is the third in a series of extensive channel incentive programs introduced to resellers within the last 45 days, demonstrating the company's steadfast channel commitment. Synergy Plus partners are currently taking advantage of promotions for Cabletron's industry-proven SmartSwitch Router solution and its high- performance SmartSTACK workgroup switches. "Cabletron continues to do the right thing by giving its reseller partners the 6 proper tools to sell its solutions," said Rich Brewer, Senior Analyst with IDC.
