Actually the pseudo-biblical language of Cooper's Indians much resembles the speech of certain space aliens in recent films, and when Pearl Buck wrote The Good Earth she used somewhat similar language to suggest a mythical connection of Chinese farmers with the soil.

But back to the main issues here: I just want to applaud your level-headedness and your willingness to see things from different sides--even to abandon what some people would assume to the natural prejudices of party, gender, generation, or economic class in order to arrive at a reasonable point of view.
