I just have to interject here. I have been for the most part lurking on this thread, and what you have just printed is mistaken.
I am an American living in Sweden, and I have also spent time in Great Britain(England and Scotland (where my family is from)). I also deal with Brits on a daily basis, not to mention that much of the television programming we received via satellite is British. To top it all off, I taught English is the Swedish public school system for awhile, and I was forced to use the standard British English curriculum, which introduced me to much of euphemistic double talk that is used in modern England.
The term "Bugger" or "Bugger off" has the same connotation as the American expletive "F*** YOU".
And yes it is considered foul language in England to use such an expletive, unless you were raised in a sewer. Nowhere is the term Bugger used as a euphemistic form for the word "Chap".
Having watched you and Bob battle it out, it is obvious that while Bob may not know everything, and his political views are rather obvious, he at least has not propped himself up as a pseudointellectual.
On the other hand, your Braggadoccio concerning how academically elevated you are only reveals the need to feel important. You may have valid arguments to present(I haven't seen any as of yet), but they are mired in your attempts to appear superior to others especially Bob as he has taken the bait to fight with you.
Regardless of which institution of learning one attends, it is the individual and not the institution which in the end proves the viability of the education the individual received.
As you will have already made a mental profile of who I am upon reading this, I can save you some mental excercise by offering a little detail.
I am not a Republican nor am I a Democrat. I consider myself an Independant. I want the best deal I can get, and I do not care under which flag it is being flown(As long as it is for the best of my country and its citizens). I am married and have 3 children with number 4 on the way any day now. I have a strong religious conviction i e I am a LDS, and my wife shares this conviction as well. My wife is Swedish, thus motivating my reason for living in Europe. I like to fish and hunt and play Basketball. (In truth, I am a sports junky). I love write, and I am currently working on a Sci Fi novel. I currently work for a company as a software support technician(glorified answerguy). I am currently involved in the development of advanced courses for database development and rendering tools programs.
No I have not gone to Harvard or even finished my college education. I am 30 years old, and am working towards a Bachelors in English Lit with a minor in Computer Software Science through Regents College in New York(This means that I can take corrospondance courses from any and all accredited Universities and Colleges in the US and apply them to my degree).
I work hard in trying to get it all done while not sacrificing time for my wife and children. I may not live in the US, but I have a strong love for my country.
Now that I have let you know who I am, you can start to rag on me if you wish(this will only prove my above statements concerning the impression you are leaving here on this thread).
"Wise men speak when they have something to say. Fools speak because they have to say something."
A little humility never hurts anyone, especially when trying to prove a point.
As far as President Clinton is concerned, I am deeply sorrowed that my leader has done what he has done. Living in Europe, gives me another perspective on how the events in the world are perceived. The bombing of Sudan has been seen with contempt by many Europeans. The consensus is that this was done to divert attention from the Presidents own moral problems domestically. I have seen the sorrow of those whose family members were killed in the bombings. The terrorist hunt is definitely motivated. The Embassy bombings were an atrocity. But, is this a question of terrorist attacking the Embassies, or a question of the US not protecting its citizens. Who was responsible for the security checks?
I think when Americans see the children of the factory workers who were killed with signs in front of them telling Clinton no more Monika, it will leave a bad taste in their mouths, and hopefully a bad feeling in their hearts. The Sudanese President has asked the United Nations to investigate this incident. This is definitely the wrong approach for a country to take if they were concerned with hiding potential terrorist activity. I have no problems with defending my country. I served in the USArmy for two years, and my father served in Vietnam(a tragedy on all fronts). I am not a pacifist, but I know the difference between a strategic defensive military strike, and the shedding of innocent blood to satisfy the selfish desires of a lost man.
