Carl;
In addition to JD, I subscribe to Steve Leeb _Personal Finance and Bob Czeschin's Oil and Energy Report. I am disappointed in both. I intend to drop Czechin's subscription but will continue PF as he occasionally comes up with some good income plays a la convertibles.
I continue to like JD best of all. I do not randomly buy all of his selections and often sell long before he rarely recommends a sale. I have done very well with all his European stocks where he did exceptionally well. I did terrible on his Asian picks but I have not heard of anyone doing any better. Its tough to stomach some Asian losses but over the next 5 years my guess he will be right. Maybe now is too early to get back into Asia. I disagree with John about the impossibility of market timing. These stocks are beat up so badthey will have a long runup. Maybe I miss the first 10-20% but there will be plenty more there.
Re his US picks I think McIntyre is more involved in many of those. There is enough info out there to make judgement on your own. He is right about not chasing prices. Maybe the market flounders around for a few months. Knowing companies and seeing consistent growth will be rewarding in the long run. However if a company can not seem to get it right quarter after quarter (like Motorola)- pitch them
My next accumulate will be Core Labs since they have come down to where they were prior to JD recommendation and run up. Continuing good growth. Once oil stablizes time to start.Beaten down financials look attactive for accumulation.
