Welcome to the thread . . .

In networking, there is no such thing as "jargon free;"

Routers, switches, etc., are the devices (think of them as very small computers with lots of connectors hanging off them) that let almost anything talk to anything. Your connection to SI goes through a maze of links to get to the board and back - many of which, statistically speaking, probably are CSCO's product.

As the network grows, so does the demand for things that do this - and there are competitors - all of which together do not add up to the sheer volume of installed CSCO equipment.

IMO, anytime is a good time to buy CSCO, simply because they are the market leader (not always the technology leader in every product, but the market leader) and the market is growing. A well run company such as CSCO can be very rewarding to stockholders with minimal risk.

Hope that helps.

Mr. K.
