Deutsche Telekom, Microsoft Plan Internet-TV Tool, Paper Says
Munich, Aug. 23 (Bloomberg) -- Microsoft Corp., the world's largest software maker, and Deutsche Telekom AG, Germany's largest phone company and online service provider, want to sell a device that allows consumers to surf the Internet and send e- mails on their television sets, Focus magazine reported. The two companies will introduce the WebTV decoder, which the U.K.'s Pace Micro Technology Plc is helping build, at this week's Cebit Home fair in Hanover, Germany. They plan to sell the device for less than 500 deutsche marks ($278) to subscribers to Deutsche Telekom's T-Online service, the magazine said.
Microsoft shut down its Internet access service in Germany this month, advising subscribers to switch to T-Online.
