As usual you only post one sided info and no link for easy confirmation. This is the whole article. It talks about the "new" QM-DI and PEARLgold plates on the Creo trendsetter.
Maybe Kodak is having trouble, were you wrong about Kodak plates on the SM-74DI as well. Oh, and the SM-74 will not be for sale until mid-1999. Given that the Scitex machine is the same footprint, how many 74 karats will sell ahead of the Heidelberg. Every one that does will be imaging PRST plates also.
dotprint.com The Speedmaster 74 DI will be on the Heidelberg stand at Ipex alongside two new web presses, new versions of Creo's Trendsetter platesetters, ten-unit Speedmaster 102 and an eight-unit Speedmaster 74 with twin perfecting units. It is the Speedmaster 74 DI, a six-colour B2 direct imaged machine that will be the major attraction for most printers. Together with the Quickmaster DI, it will be displayed in a DI Theatre showing production flows for both B3 and B2 formats. While the new press will be shown it is not expected to go on sale until mid-1999. The press also offers coating, perfecting unit and drying options. The company says it is "the ideal growth path for current users of the Quickmaster DI". This press is to be shown in a new version - the Quickmaster DI plus with an imaging time cut to four minutes and enhanced colour control across 12 colour zones. However, the whole stand is likely to be overshadowed by the web presses, where a gapless technology press will be running. This is the SP (for Sunday Press) 1826, a 24pp press designed for the commercial web printer. The stand will also have a unit from the new 48pp SP2546 web, which features Autoplate and Autoweb Up systems which are intended to slash set up times. The smaller end of the web market is covered by the new M8 press showing for the first time. In the commercial print sector, B1 printers will be able to see a ten-unit Speedmaster 102, six-colour CD 102 and a six colour CD 102 plus coater. In B2, an eight-unit Speedmaster 74 with perfecter after the second and fourth print units is joined by a five-colour Speedmaster 74 with coater and extended delivery and a two-colour 74. The display will feature integration of the Speedmaster 74 with ctp systems. These will come from Heidelberg partner Creo which is showing an automatic plate loading version of its 3244 Trendsetter thermal platesetter with online punch. More interesting will be the 3230 A, a Trendsetter designed to image no process ablative thermal plates. This will be working with Presstek1s PearlGold plate. The Trendsetter Spectrum proofing versions in four-page and eight-page versions are also present. The key development from Heidelberg Prepress is Delta V5.5, incorporating PDF. This is the platform chosen to drive the Speedmaster 74-DI. Signastation becomes a software only application running on Windows NT platforms while DaVinci is offered as a system to carry out preflighting and Tiff/IT and PDF editing station. In the smaller format, the Quickmaster is offered with numbering and perforating units. A new version of the press will be ready early in 1999 but will be on the stand. |
