PETM.. was on the earnings play watch list as one that was way oversold.. can't go anywhere but up. Reports on 08/26/98 and believe it this is a kind of "anticipatory upswing" for that company. It's been very beaten down. It is on my Earnings Plays watch list and Daily Watch list and it's been on a 'roll' ever since.

LLTC... Always a good trading stock was upgraded this morning.

ANF. This one is a favorite among the top funds. The stock has moved out of a five-week base with resistance at 50 and is now at a new high above 53. Of course the earnings reports for the fiscal second quarter was what caused this stock's rally. It jumped to 20 cents a share, from 4 cents a year ago. TIP: whenever a stock beats consensus analysts' estimates it is usually bought by the leading funds. That is why is it important to 'be on top of them' right before and after their report. In the case of ANF, because it had no exposure to Asia, a hold through earnings was not that risky.

AVEI.. this is one of my favorites and a long term hold for me. It was a laggard for much of its last quarter although beating estimates soundly last quarter as well. AVEI rallied wonderfully from 28 to 48 on July 20. Now it is finding support at about 40. I still like this one a lot. Both AVEI and GDT were intermediate term holds for me.
