In addition, you imply that the SM-DI most likely will be designed for using PEARLGold plates. This is in direct contrast to the same article that you site: "Heidelberg and Creo are leaning towards a non-process Kodak plate which should be available before the end of the year. It will be a conventional wet offset plate, but must require no processing. Presstek is closest to the non-process plate with its PearlGold product, a wet offset plate undergoing trials at a limited number of sites. It will work with a broad range of lasers and the waterless offset version will be used on the 74 Karat digital press. Kodak Polychrome Graphics will have an ablation non-process plate ready by the end of this year. Kodak's close association with Heidelberg and Creo will ensure that the plate will have a head start in terms of matching press and plate." Yes, I know that the Kodak plate could still be termed, quite properly, a "vapor plate." Note, however, that the PEARLGold still has not had an official launch yet eithr. And one thing is probably for sure, and that is that Kodak probably has better access to the Creo/Heidelberg prototype than Presstek has.
