The Bre-X debacle went to the core of the industry's credibility. And, by far, most prospects don't make mines or even come close. The problem is there's a shortage of good properties even after all that money was raised in 1996-7. Add in the political unwinding in Indonesia, Africa and South East Asia and you've taken a lot of prospective geology out of the game in the short run. China never was a factor, especially for juniors. So we're back to the hinterlands in South America. Nevada is still there as is Ontario and both will produce more major deposits. It's a cycle but this could be a long, deep one.
