Gary and bdog, Easy enough to check Q+ and MS against a spread sheet. Turns out Q+ is correct. bdog: using AINN, -all 3 matched for some reason at 8,4,4 -MS wanders around the correct value for 13,8,8; was nearly correct on 8/11.
Gary: the MS smoothing, "If you enter a value greater than one, MetaStock will average the highest high and the lowest low over the number of %K Slowing Periods before performing the division.", isn't the problem; the MA of a quotient is identical to the quotient of the MAs of the terms.
Their custom example uses SMA: %D(5,3) = 100*Sum(C-LLV(L,5),3)/Sum(HHV(H,5)-LLV(L,5),3)
