Back to your point about cash for a moment. It is my experience that sophisticated investors do not invest in a company because of its' cash, but rather what type of return the assets, including the cash, can generate. Once invested in a company, investors might take some comfort from a purely defensive viewpoint, that there is lots of cash. Investors who want to invest in cash buy T-Bill's, Commercial paper etc.
