SUNNYVALE, Calif., Aug 24 (Reuters) - Internet navigation giant Infoseek Corp. Monday launched a comprehensive on-line service and web-based communications center using AT&T's newest Internet technologies.
The services are intended to increase communications on the Internet by enabling web surfers, for example, to instantly telephone people they encounter in chat rooms, initiate conference calls from the web, download communications software, or create personal web sites, Infoseek said.
"Infoseek is giving users the reliability of the AT&T brand and a comprehensive suite of services on one convenient Communication Center," said Harry Motro, Infoseek President and CEO. "Ultimately, we're making people's lives easier on the Internet."
"Infoseek Online Powered by AT&T WorldNet Service," offers 150 hours of Internet access per month and discounts on AT&T long distance for a low trial rate of $9.95 per month. After three months the service will cost $19.95 for 150 hours per month with additional hours at $0.99 each.
Infoseek's "Communications Center" gives users one-click access to AT&T's most advanced Web tools that let surfers transform an online keyboard chat into live conversation, initiate a conference call from the Web, or automatically dial anyone in AT&T's Anywho directory. |
