WALNUT CREEK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 24, 1998--Western Staff Services Inc. (NASDAQ:WSTF), the essential support services leader, announces its acquisition of substantially all the assets of North Carolina-based Career Temporaries Inc., with offices located in Charlotte, Gastonia and Statesville doing business as Career Staffing.
Headquartered in Charlotte, Career Staffing's three offices specialize in clerical and light industrial temporary staffing services with annual sales of more than $5.6 million.
"We are pleased to acquire and establish operations in the booming Charlotte region, which is a great growth area and the nation's second largest financial services center," says Mike Phippen, president and chief operating officer of Western Staff.
Brad Chambers, vice president and general manager of Career Staffing joins Western Staff as an area manager overseeing the newly acquired operations. Chambers brings more than 15 years of staffing industry experience in the Charlotte region to the company.
"This acquisition provides us with a great opportunity to retain strong local leadership to launch our staffing services in a flourishing marketplace," Phippen adds. "We welcome Brad Chambers and Career Staffing employees to Western Staff."
This acquisition follows Western Staff's July assets acquisition from Texas-based The Personnel Connection Inc. and is the company's 15th acquisition since the start of fiscal 1998. The combined annual sales of these 15 acquisitions total more than $77 million.
